This is usually very time consuming be-cause valves need to be disassembled and cleaned. This isnot a viable option for production plants. Present and futurebatch sequencing and continuous mode production scalebioprocessing plants require automatic sanitary control valvesthat meet standards for cleaning in place (CIP) and sanitizingin place (SIP) designed to drain freely from inlet to outlet.The result is a pure aseptic valve design, free from residue ororganisms left behind after cleaning which can be a source ofproduct contamination. Of critical importance for the mainte-nance and the cleanliness of the valve is the surface finishwhich must meet all the requirements for an aseptic design.It needs to be free of pits and cracks on all wetted parts. TheKämmer valve series 191000 meets all these requirements.Kämmer control valve series 191000 have a wide range ofapplications within the food and beverage industry as well asin biotech, pharmacy and all areas where perfect cleanlinessand sterile valves are required. All parts of the easy mainte-nance valve which are in contact with the media are made ofcorrosion resistance materials, PTFE or silicon. For the asep-tic version of this valve series a PTFE diaphragm seals themedia from the environment. These valves have excellent hy-gienic properties, they are pocket free and can be cleaned inplace. It goes without saying that all approvals such as USDAand 3A are fulfilled.A surface finish of 0.6 Ra for the whole 191000 series is stand-ard. If there are applications which require a higher qualitysurface finish than 0.6 Ra this is also not a problem forFLOWSERVE.Figure 1 shows a standard valve series 191400. This valvetype is used for food and beverage applications. Figure 2 showsthe aseptic version series 191800 with test port connection.This version is also available without a test port as series191700. Because of it’soptimised body design the valve is pocket free so that bacte-ria or any other kinds of contamination are avoided. The seatis an integral part of the body to avoid additional gaps. The O-Ring packing and general bonnet design ensure a very com-pact overall height. The stem is guided by a PTFE bushing forprecise control, reduced friction and minimal wear. A wiperring is provided to protect against contamination from theoutside.Repair, maintenance or the replacement if individual parts iseasy to perform because the body and the bonnet are con-nected together by a clamp.The Type 191400 is designed in accordance with 3A and USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) requirements. Leakagecan be very quickly detected by a system of holes drilled into the bonnet and the body. The hole in the bonnet is connected to acircular groove just above the O-Ring. Any media leaking past the O-Ring can flow thought the holes to the outside and is read-ily visible. The hole in the body is situated within the body and bonnet clamp enclosure to prevent the ingress of contaminationfrom the outside.
