Music therapists may not like every kind of music, but we must develop familiarity and genuine interest in the power of client’s musical relationships.    Music and Life Experience Scale I choose each one of these ratings honestly, and added my experiences to the best of my ability. The higher experience levels and comfort levels come from experience mostly. I have  been around older adults and feel comfortable with them. I also know a wide range of the music that they enjoy. On the other end of the spectrum, the groups that I am not comfortable with are  because I have not worked with them and need more experience with those specific groups. I have a very wide range of musical interests ranging from classic rock to gospel to contemporary music. I have a lot of experience singing blue grass, country, gospel, as well as musical pieces. I have worked with music from before the 1950’s, but very briefly for a 60 th  wedding anniversary. The styles I am not comfortable with include the rock and roll of the current time, rap, hip-hop, as well as R&B. I believe if I listen to those types more, I may begin to like it better.  Music and Life Experience Scale
